About the Grant

The Duval Literacy Association is proud to offer a professional development grant in the amount of $200 to offset the costs associated with attending the Florida Literacy Association Annual Conference in Orlando on the first weekend of November.  Any DLA member in good standing may apply.  For more information on the conference, go to the FLA web site at flareads.org.

The grant is named for Dr. William G. "Bill" Herrold, a Professor at the University of North Florida for over 25 years.  Dr. Herrold was a past president of the Duval County Reading Council and the Florida Reading Association and the honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to literacy education in the Jacksonville community and throughout Florida.
