Betty was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Jacksonville, FL 18 years ago. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and was a Human Resources Manager for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She has chaired the West Jacksonville Elementary School's Advisory Council (SAC) for the last 10 years.

Betty founded Books-A-Go Go over 7 years ago. This organization collects used and new children's books, and gives them to children from low income families. These books are distributed through schools and organizations that serve these children.

Most of their books are distributed in Northeast Florida, but many have been distributed throughout the country, and in over 20 foreign countries! They operate at the Teacher Supply Depot, and are completely volunteer-based.

About 800,000 books have been distributed through this incredible organization in the last 7 years.
